Isaiah Harris of Lewiston and Victoria Bossong of Cumberland advanced to the 800-meter semifinals on the opening day of the USA track and field championships Thursday in Eugene, Oregon.
Harris, running in a fast first heat, placed fourth with a time of 1 minute, 46.07 seconds. That was fourth best among all 31 men.
Bossong was the next-to-last qualifier in the women’s 800, finishing sixth in the fourth heat (2:02.67).
Both the men’s and women’s semifinals are Friday, and the finals are Sunday.
