Eileen Lois Howard
FAIRFIELD – Eileen Lois Howard, 88, of Fairfield, walked peacefully into the waiting arms of her LORD and Savior, Jesus Christ on Friday, August 15, 2025, at the Alfond Center for Health in Augusta.
Born in Rockland, on Nov. 23, 1936, to Angelo and Dorothy (Cummings) Howard, Eileen spent her life dedicated to her family, her work, and her community.
Eileen made her mark early on, graduating from Union High School in 1955. She then embarked on a fulfilling career as an accountant for the State of Maine, where she served 31 years until her retirement.
Beyond her professional life, Eileen was an active and beloved figure in her local community. She was a past member of the Augusta Church of the Nazarene serving on the church board, Sunday School Superintendent and participating in the choir. She later joined the Fairfield Church of the Nazarene and was a cherished member. Her dedication to service also extended to the Senior Adult Ministries. Eileen loved her LORD and was a blessing and an encouragement to all who knew her.
In her free time, Eileen was a passionate athlete, participating in the Augusta women’s softball league and enjoying basketball and candlepin bowling. Eileen also loved to travel, often around the northeastern United States and Canada and embarking on alpine tours.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Angelo and Dorothy Howard, and two brothers Dwight and Bobby Howard.
Eileen is survived by her sister, Ivah White; eight nephews, Jeff, Mark, Thomas, Amos, Michael, and Richard White, and Gregory and Ronald Howard, three nieces, Suzanne Young, Elizabeth Lane, and Susan Morris; sister-in-law Nancy Howard; and friends Ethelyn, Sandi, Pastor Peter Roy; and her always present, forever loving companion, her Chihuahua Brenna.
Eileen was a cherished and loved member of her family and will be greatly missed.
A memorial service for family and friends will be held at the Fairfield Church of the Nazarene, 81 Main Street, Fairfield, on Monday, Sept. 8, 2025, at 11 a.m. The service will be officiated by her long-time friend Rev. Bill Young and her pastor Rev. Peter Roy. There will be a graveside service at the Union Common Cemetery, Ayer Hill Road, Union, Maine 04862 directly following the memorial service at approximately 1:15 p.m.
