Patrick J. McGuire

AUGUSTA – Patrick J. McGuire, 76, died Sunday, Aug. 17, 2025, at the Alfond Center for Health in Augusta, following a long illness. He was born in Augusta, on Dec. 23, 1948, a son of the late Robert and Jeannette I. (Emerson) McGuire.

Mr. McGuire was a graduate of Cony High School and earned an associate’s degree in art from the University of Maine at Augusta where he honed his skills in fine art producing many beautiful paintings throughout his lifetime. He was also a skilled hobbyist in sculpture and stained glass. He enjoyed geocaching across the state of Maine, and trips to Florida.

He was a U.S. Army veteran and had been employed for many years at the VA Hospital at Togus.

Mr. McGuire was pre-deceased by his wife, Gail A. (Veilleux) McGuire and a daughter, Bobbie McGuire.

He is survived by his son, Devin McGuire of Augusta; a daughter, Laura L. Gosselin and her husband Marc of South China; four grandchildren: Rory McGuire of Minot, Jade (McGuire) Lebel and husband Sam of Gray, Mitchel Gosselin of Portland, and Baileigh (Gosselin) Poulin and husband Aaron of China; four great grandchildren and several cousins.

At his request, there will be no public visiting hours. A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 29, at 11 a.m., at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta. Burial will be at a later date in the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Augusta.
