SANFORD — Reese Beaudoin scored three goals as Sanford opened its season with a 6-0 field hockey victory over South Portland on Friday.

Hailey Payeur, Paige Sevigny and Miranda Payeur also scored for the Spartans, who had a 26-0 advantage in shots on goal. 

Payeur, Olivia Kezar and Brooke Emmons each recorded an assist.

SCARBOROUGH 1, WINDHAM 0: Cassie Niles scored as the Red Storm collected a season-opening victory at Windham.

FALMOUTH 3, CHEVERUS 0: Hudson Barry scored in the first half, Kian Long and Simon Wissink added second-half goals, and the Navigators shut out the Stags in Portland.

OCEANSIDE 2, LINCOLN ACADEMY 0: The Mariners got second-half goals from Thomas Geddis and Lucas Novika to beat the Eagles in Newcastle.

THORNTON ACADEMY 5, SANFORD 0: Precieux Mbolela scored two goals, Sebastian Gamiz added a goal and an assist, and the Trojans handled the Spartans in Saco.

Sabri Ninziza and Kyle Nicoletti also scored. Thornton keepers Charlie Lamey and Wesley Stepp each made three saves.

Elijah Bowden stopped nine shots for Sanford.

GIRLS SOCCER

FALMOUTH 6, SANFORD 0: The Navigators scored twice on penalty kicks while opening the season with a victory over the Spartans at Falmouth.

Reese Harder and Abigail Pausman converted the penalty kicks. Also scoring were Ella Morse from Margo Hesson, Hadley Perry unassisted, Charlotte Talmage from Afton Mick, and Finley VanTil from Sara Tennent.
