There’s a lot to like about Maine in the fall: weather, foliage, blueberries, high school sports, and don’t forget the agricultural fairs. But somehow the Cumberland County Fair didn’t receive the coverage it deserves.

We get the newspaper home-delivered each day, and watch the TV news at 6 p.m. on the local affiliates, and nothing about our fair. In truth, one TV station did broadcast an item on an apple pie contest, which included one of their reporters as a judge. There was a lot of coverage (well deserved) about Common Ground, Unity, Skowhegan, etc., but not Cumberland County.

Prior years had print coverage with schedules of daily events and human interest items like animal judging for the 4-H crowd. The TV stations had walk-through video of the various stands and carnival rides. Now it is all over for another year. What happened?
