I have two flags flying on my house: an American flag and a University of Connecticut Huskies flag. I am a huge UConn basketball fan, so this will be my time of year. That being said, I have taken down my beloved Huskies flag and put up a red flag.
I know red is the MAGA color, but more importantly a red flag is a an international sign of great distress, great danger. Which is where Donald Trump has brought us. And most Republicans, including Sen. Collins, did too.
I can’t believe that support for taking health care away from millions of people is what we want to do. And passing the “big, beautiful bill,” while saying “We’ll take care of the problems later” doesn’t work — because later never comes.
And now, Trump is going on his revenge tour — using the Department of Justice to attack people who disagree with him. Though he pays high praise to Charlie Kirk, he doesn’t live his respect for free speech. The only free speech Trump wants is speech that he agrees with. The only thing Trump wants is praise for his ego.
I know my red flag is small thing, but it reminds me every day to speak up. I am asking all of us to do the same thing. Staying silent condones Trump’s actions.
