Sayon Camara Drumming
A Sayon Camera Drumming event is planned at 6 p.m. Thursday at Lithgow Public Library, 45 Winthrop St., Augusta.
Camara is a djembefola (a master of the drum known as a djembe) and a cultural ambassador for his people, the Malinke of Guinea. By perfecting his artistry , he ensures that Malinke culture will be remembered.
This performance with an educational element of traditional music from Camera’s home in West Africa will be participatory. He delivers the songs and stories of his people.

Voyage
The Waterville Opera House will host Voyage at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at 1 Common St., Waterville.
The Journey tribute band is known for its ability to recreate the legendary sound, energy and passion of Journey.
Voyage is fronted by vocalist Pedro Espada, whose range and tone rival the iconic Steve Perry, and backed by a lineup of Robby Hoffman, Greg Smith, Lance Millard and Dana Spellman.

The Vampire Circus
The Waterville Opera House presents The Vampire Circus at 8 p.m. Friday at 1 Common St., Waterville.
A mix of circus cabaret and theater, the show is a mysterious, tantalizing, fun, dark, cutting-edge production that strives to amaze the senses.
Spectators can experience horrific feats of cirque acrobatics, comical audience interactions, contortionists, jugglers, acrobats and clowns.

Swine & Stein
The annual Swine & Stein Brewfest is scheduled for noon-5 p.m. Saturday on Water Street, Gardiner.
The event features samples from Maine’s breweries, wineries and distilleries in an open-air beer garden,food vendors, fun games and activities.
Organizers have partnered with the Johnson Hall Opera House to create a music lineup of Maine bands.
Quirky games will include favorites and new additions. For the ninth year, participants will groom, style and dress their facial hair in the hope of being named “best in show” in the Beard and Mustache Competition. Contests also will include the Rock Paper Scissors Championship, corn hole, Giant Jenga, Giant Pass The Pigs games or the Frozen T-shirt Race.

‘Both Sides Now: The Life and Music of Joni Mitchell and Leonard Cohen’
The Waldo Theatre will host “Both Sides Now: The Life and Music of Joni Mitchell and Leonard Cohen” at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at 916 Main St., Waldoboro.
The theatrical concert explores the music and lives of longtime friends and one-time lovers Mitchell and Cohen. Created by and starring Robbie Schaefer and Danielle Wertz, the cabaret-style performance traverses decades alongside songs such as “A Case of You,” “Hallelujah,” “Big Yellow Taxi,” “Suzanne” and more.

Bob Marley
Comedian Bob Marley will take the stage twice Saturday at Waterville Opera House, 1 Common St., Waterville. The first show starts at 5 p.m.; an 8 p.m. performance follows.
Marley lives in Maine and is featured regularly on Sirius XM radio and he won their Superbowl of Comedy. He has put out more than 20 comedy CDs and DVDs and was inducted into “The Guinness Book of World’s Records” for “the longest stand-up comedy show by an individual” at 40 hours of straight stand-up.

Family storytime with author Phuc Tran
Author Phuc Tran will read from his newest book, “Cranky Makes a Friend,” at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Waterville Public Library, 73 Elm St., Waterville; followed by a Q&A.
The Maine teacher and artist has also authored a memoir titled “Sigh, Gone.”
The free event is for children and their caregivers with music, movement and a bit more reading than rhymetime. The target audience is children 5-8 years old, but all are welcome.

The Novel Jazz Septet
The Novel Jazz Septet plans to return to the Skidompha Public Library for what is called The Great Pumpkin Jam, at 7 p.m. Saturday at 184 Main St., Damariscotta.
During the Pumpkin Fest weekend, the band will play an evening of jazz out of the “Great American Songbook,” with tunes befitting the fall season.
Proceeds will benefit the library and its Little Food Pantry.
The musicians of Novel Jazz are Herb Maine (acoustic bass), Barney Balch (trombone), Michael Mitchell (trumpet), Mickey Felder (piano), David Clarke (guitar) and Nate Johengen (saxophone). Regular Novel drummer, Bill Manning, will be out of town that evening so the band welcomes guest percussionist Rusty Quinn.
Admission is free; in lieu of purchasing a ticket, the library requests a donation (suggested $20/person) for the library, or food or personal hygiene items for Skidompha’s Little Food Pantry, all to support other community members in need.

The Bookey Readings
The Bookey Readings is planned for 1 p.m. Saturday at Bailey Public Library, 39 Bowdoin St., Winthrop.
The poetry series originated at the Harlow Gallery in Hallowell more than 25 years ago and features local and renowned poets and musicians.

Temple Grandin | All Kinds of Minds
The University of Maine at Augusta will host Temple Grandin | All Kinds of Minds at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 14, at Augusta Civic Center, 76 Community Drive, Augusta.
The celebrated author, autism advocate, and one of Time Magazine’s “100 Most Influential People” has inspired millions, with her message, “the world needs all kinds of minds.”
This signature event offers a rare opportunity to experience her insights live.
Grandin is a professor of animal science at Colorado State University and the author of bestselling books including “Thinking in Pictures” and “The Autistic Brain.”
