Caden Chretien shot 2-under 70 to finish second and help Nokomis win the team title at the KVAC Class B golf qualifier on Tuesday at Natanis Golf Course in Vassalaboro.

Nokomis finished with a score of 319. Lincoln Academy (338), Medomak Valley (343), Belfast (344) and Leavitt (349) also qualified for the Class B state championship, which will take place Friday at Natanis.

Gardiner’s Jack Quinn, the defending Class B champion, took medalist honors with a 69.

Also scoring for Nokomis were SJ Welch (76), Jeff Christie (85) and Daegan Trafton (88). 

Drew Nichols shot a 79 to lead Lincoln. Also for the Eagles, Max Blake shot 84, Reed Prentice 87 and Dylan Lomas 88.

Joseph Wilcox (81), Mason Nguyen (82), Micah Fagonde (85) and Kollin Donlin (95) scored for Medomak Valley. Finn Holmes led Belfast with an 80, while teammates Gabe Warren, Jason Thurston and Landon Gray all shot 88.

Medomak Valley took third place, just one shot ahead of Belfast. The Panthers’ lowest scorer was Joseph Wilcox (81), followed by Mason Nguyen (82), Micah Fagonde (85), and Kollin Donlin (95). Finn Holmes led the Lions with an 80, while teammates Gabe Warren, Jason Thurston and Landon Gray all shot an 88.

Leavitt secured the final spot, beating Gardiner, the 2024 state champion, by one shot. Morgan Folsom (83), Thomas Pratt (83), James Brisson (89) and Reed Hallowell (94) scored for Leavitt.

Jonny Johnston of Morse finished third individually with a 75.

Other individual qualifiers were Lawrence’s Trenton Paquette (85), Waterville/Winslow’s Jack Flaherty (86), Morse’s Cam McCarren (86), Gardiner’s Brady Peacock (87), Oceanside’s Aiden Willis (88) and Spruce Mountain’s Evan Hamilton (89).

KVAC A QUALIFER: Evan Kimble of Camden Hills edged the Messalonskee duo of Greyson Dooley and Liam McFadden to win medalist honors in the KVAC A qualifier in Vassalboro.

Kimble shot 75, one shot in front of Dooley and three ahead of McFadden.

Dooley and McFadden helped the Eagles win the team title and a spot in the Class A state championship. They were joined by Trent Bell (83) and Gavin Jackson (90) as the Eagles finished with a score of 327.

Hampden Academy (331), Edward Little (335) and Camden Hills (336) also qualified.

Hampden’s Sawyer Worcester (79) and Edward Little’s Cole Levesque (81) rounded out the top five individually.

Skowhegan’s Eddie Goff was the lone player in the top 10 to qualify as an individual by shooting an 82.

Also for Hampden, Wyatt Allen shot 83, Colby Pangburn had a 84 and Brady Tiensivu was at 85. For Edward Little, Carson Veilleux shot 82, Hayden Avery 83 and Owen Robertson 89.

BOYS SOCCER

RICHMOND 3, MOUNTAIN VALLEY 0: David Edwards scored two goals as the Bobcats (4-4-1) beat the Falcons (1-9-1) in Richmond. 

Leeum Dufresne also scored, while Gavin Lincoln and Bradley Goodall each had an assist. Sully McDaniel made six saves.

Greg Hall had seven stops for Mountain Valley.

ERSKINE ACADEMY 1, GARDINER 0: Will Adamson scored on a breakaway off an assist from Wyatt Michaud with 12 minutes left to give the Eagles (4-3-3) a win over the Tigers (6-5) in South China. 

Bryce St. Onge made 10 saves for Erskine, while PJ Gove had nine saves for Gardiner.

GIRLS SOCCER

SKOWHEGAN 5, LAWRENCE 0: Five players scored to lift the River Hawks (10-0) past the Bulldogs (3-7) in Skowhegan.

McKaela McLaughlin, Mae Dubois, Vivian Hart, Laney Wentworth and Mya Robinson each tallied a goal. Lydia Herric had two assists, while Morgan Tupper and Charlotte Libby were credited with one assist. 

Natalie Cooke stopped four shots for Skowhegan. Lawrence’s Riley Souzier turned aside 18 shots.

SPRUCE MOUNTAIN 1, OAK HILL 0: Natasha McDonald scored nine minutes into the second half to give the Phoenix (4-6-1) a win over the Raiders (1-8-1) in Jay. 

Aubrey Mitchell had an assist. 

Jayda McDonald earned the shutout by stopping 10 shots. Grace Lough made four saves for Oak Hill.

MESSALONSKEE 3, OXFORD HILLS 0: Elsie Spear, Emma McDowell and Brooklyn Armstrong scored as the Eagles (3-6-1) beat the Vikings (0-9) in Paris. 

Rylee McKay added two assists and Grace McKay had one. Messalonskee goalies Kaina Carrier and Ember Fitcher combined for five saves. 

Harley Warner made 17 saves for Oxford Hills.

FIELD HOCKEY

NOKOMIS 4, MORSE 0: Makenzie Watson and Maeve Rush scored inthe first half, and Annie Nyce finished off two penalty corners in the fourth quarter as the Warriors (9-2) pulled away from the Shipbuilders (2-7) in Newport.
