It must be true there are a number, if not many Christians today, who in the privacy of their hearts have come to realize the president they helped elect is not the Christian leader they envisioned, or hoped might become.

When they see the litany of things he has said which contradict the most fundamental scripture teachings, as in these which command:

  • “Love your enemies, do good to those who mistreat you.”
  • “Welcome the stranger into your shores, for they are your brothers and sisters.”
  • “If a man strikes you on one cheek, offer him the other as well.”
  • And…“No greater love exists, than in one who lays down his life for his friends.”

The list is endless that our elected president doesn’t do, and in the things he has said and done, in contradiction of these cherished principles:

  • “I will be your retribution” he promised to his followers while campaigning and exhibits now, today.
  • “All your countries are going to hell…” he said last month in a speech before the United Nations, and to our closest allies.
  • “It’s sad … but he knew what he signed up for…” to a veteran’s widow during a recent condolence call –
  • and … “I don’t get it … what was in it for them?” spoken at a WWI gravesite for U.S. soldiers in France — to his chief of staff in his first term, confirmed by the same general, John Kelly.

“By their fruits, you will know them,” the Founder of Christianity poignantly said.
