The Portland Hearts of Pine suffered their third straight loss, falling to One Knoxville SC 3-1 on Friday at Covent Health Park in Knoxville, Tennessee.
Portland, a first-year expansion team, would have clinched a USL League One playoff berth with a win. The Hearts are in sixth in the standings, one point behind Union Omaha and four points behind fourth-place FC Naples. The top four teams host quarterfinal games, and the top eight teams advance to the playoffs.
One Knoxville took a 1-0 lead in the 38th minute on a goal by Kempes Waldemar and made it 2-0 when Stavros Zarokostas scored in the 59th minute.
Portland got on the board two minutes later when Jake Keegan scored, but Babcar Diene scored an insurance goal in the 87th minute.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way.
