In the United States, an average of 132 people are killed every day by guns. More can and must be done to put an end to the gun violence crisis.
Our schools and communities need to be kept safe. Voting “Yes” this November on ballot Question 2 will help prevent shootings in schools and public places — shootings like the one in Lewiston.
Voting “Yes” on Question 2 will allow Mainers access to Extreme Risk Protection Orders (ERPOs). Also called “red flag” laws, ERPOs allow families to go to court when a loved one is in crisis. If the court deems the person a danger to himself or others, it can temporarily prevent him from accessing weapons and, in doing so, prevent a dangerous situation from turning deadly.
Let’s keep our schools and communities safe. Vote “Yes” on Question 2. We will all benefit.
