Enzo Giampaolo of Lewiston and Addison Elliott of Hampden Academy were the individual champions, and Hampden Academy swept the team titles at the KVAC Class A cross country meet Saturday in Augusta.
Giampaolo, a senior, finished the 5-kilometer Cony course in 16 minutes, 33.7 seconds, ahead of Asher Valentine (16:36.4) of Hampden Academy. Bangor’s Samuel Bergmark (16:39.5) finished third, followed by Edward Little’s Harper Borden (16:45.0) and Calvin Vincent (17:19.2).
The Broncos placed five racers in the top 19 to score 48 points. Bangor (81) was second and Camden Hills (89) finished third.
Elliot, a junior, finished in 19:30.1 to beat teammates Gretchen Plant (20:03.5) and Erin Curtis (20:52.3). Maddy St. Charles (21:26.0) of Camden Hills finished fourth and Charlotte Crowe (21:48.6) came in fifth.
In addition to the top three finishers, Hampden Academy had the eighth-place (Sylvia Rage 22:27.5) and 12th-place (Aubrey Shaw 22:58.9) runners to finish with 26 points. Camden Hills finished second with 43 and Bangor was third with 125.
In Class B, Morse’s Levi Riggs and Lincoln Academy’s Karen Higgins won individual titles, while the Lincoln Academy boys and Morse girls won the team championships.
Riggs, a senior, finished in 16:37.5. Owen Card of Lincoln Academy was second in 17:11.5 and Colby Daigle (17:56.8) of Medomak Valley finished third. Waterville’s Charles Flees (18:33.8) and Gardiner’s Cole Lavigne (18:42.5) rounded out the top five.
Lincoln won with 36 points, followed by Morse (62) and Waterville (112).
Higgins, a junior, finished more than a minute ahead of the competition in 19:22.5. Medomak Valley’s Ava Collamore (20:36.7) came in second and Leavitt’s Haley Marston (20:52.7) finished third. Annabel Garvan-Soto (21:39.2) of Lincoln Academy and Carson Dunn (21:43.3) of Waterville rounded out the top five.
The Shipbuilders, with five runners in the top 12, won with 42 points. Waterville was second with 51, followed by Lincoln Academy (53).
