NORRIDGEWOCK – Anita Pearl Heald Libby, 85, passed away peacefully at home, Oct. 13, 2025, with her two sons by her side, surrounded by love, comfort, and the family she cherished above all else.

Anita was born on Nov. 29, 1939, in Mercer to Ada (Lynds) Heald and Richard Heald. She was raised on the family farm, where she developed a deep appreciation for hard work, family, and the beauty of a simple life. She attended local schools and graduated from Skowhegan Area High School.

On June 22, 1957, she married the love of her life, Clarence Libby. Together, they settled in Norridgewock and built a warm, loving home where they raised their sons and created a lifetime of memories.

Anita was a dedicated professional who began working at Depositors Trust bank in Norridgewock. Through her determination and strong work ethic, she rose through the ranks to become branch manager—a role she held with pride for many years. Anita retired from Skowhegan Savings bank in August of 1999 after 33 years. Her commitment to serving her community with care and integrity earned her the trust and respect of countless residents, many of whom became lifelong friends.

While Anita was proud of her career, her greatest joy came from her family. She devoted her life to being a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Her greatest happiness was watching her family grow—celebrating every milestone, supporting every dream, and offering her constant encouragement and love. Anita had a gift for making others feel seen and cared for. Her warmth filled every room she entered, and her legacy will live on in the many lives she touched.

She found joy in the everyday moments—cooking meals from the heart, tending to her garden, curling up with a good book, and watching the birds outside her window. Her kindness, grace, and unwavering love will be dearly missed.

Anita was predeceased by her beloved husband, Clarence; her sisters Leona, Ethelyn, and Jean, and her brother, Lloyd.

She is survived by her sons Tim and his wife Sheila, and Jason and his wife Darcy; her grandsons Ryan and his wife Rosemary, Scott and his wife Danielle, and Keith; and her adored great-grandchildren, Tessa, Ada, Isla, Owen, Gabrielle, and Charli. In addition to her immediate family, Anita is survived by many nieces and nephews whom she adored.

Anita and her family would like to thank Dr. Banks, the medical staff at Redington Fairview General Hospital and the wonderful staff at MaineGeneral Homecare and Hospice for their dedicated and compassionate care of Anita throughout the last three months. In addition, we would like to thank Casey Holt for her compassion, knowledge, experience and skill in helping to guide us through this process.

Visiting hours will begin at 11 a.m., Oct. 30, at the First Congregational Church of Norridgewock located at 36 River Rd., with the memorial service following beginning at 12 p.m. Please join the family for a reception immediately following to share stories and fellowship.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Anita’s memory to the Somerset Animal Shelter or the Norridgewock Recreation Committee for Youth Sports—two causes close to her heart.
