Skowhegan’s Grace Mayo and Brewer’s Abbie Derosier were named finalist for Miss Maine Field Hockey on Friday.
The winner of the award, given to the top senior player in the state, will be announced on Dec. 7 at the Maine Field Hockey Association’s banquet on Dec. 7 at the Augusta Civic Center.
Mayo, a midfielder, has 11 goals and 14 assists this year heading into the River Hawks’ Class A North semifinal against Lewiston on Saturday. A four-year starter, Mayo is a captain for Skowhegan, and has verbally committed to the early application process to attend Bates College to play field hockey and compete in track and field.
Derosier, a goalie, had five shutouts this season for Brewer, which went 7-6-2 and earned the sixth seed in the Class A North playoffs. A three-year starter and a team captain, Derosier will play at Division II Assumption University next year.
