Ace Flagg scored 10 points in his collegiate debut and the University of Maine men’s basketball team lost to George Washington 67-47 in its season opener on Monday in Washington, D.C.
Flagg, the twin brother of Cooper Flagg (the No. 1 pick in the NBA draft), also had four steals and three rebounds for Maine. Flagg, a Newport native, scored six points in the first half and Maine trailed by four, 29-25.
Tyrone Marshall had a double-double for George Washington, finishing with 13 points and 12 rebounds. Luke Hunger added 15 points and seven rebounds, while Christian Jones had 14 points.
TJ Biel scored 13 points and grabbed seven rebounds for Maine.
