Randolph residents have elected Daniel Coutts, 48, to serve on the Gardiner area school board.

Coutts, a newcomer, beat incumbent Elissa Tracey, 47, 362-237.

Coutts is the father of four children and has lived in the Randolph and Gardiner community his entire life. He said decided to run for the seat on the school board after listening to parents’ problems and concerns with the school district and seeing no resolution.

He challenged Tracey, who has served two terms as one of two Randolph representatives on the 12-member board and was seeking a third term.

In addition to Randolph, MSAD 11 encompasses Gardiner, Pittston and West Gardiner.
