Max Andreev recorded a hat trick and Luke Cavallin got his second shutout of the season as the Maine Mariners moved into a tie for first place in the ECHL’s North Division by posting a 4-0 win Friday night against the Worcester Railers at Cross Insurance Arena.
Brooklyn Kalmikov capitalized on an early Worcester penalty, putting in a rebound for a power-play goal just 58 seconds into the game.
Despite 15 shots in the first period and 22 in the second, the Mariners didn’t add to their lead until Andreev tipped in Luke Johansson’s shot from the blue line with 17 seconds left in the second period.
Andreev added a power-play goal early in the third and an empty-netter with 3:12 remaining.
Cavallin finished with 27 saves as the Mainers extended their points streak to six games.
