Daniel Jencko scored a pair of goals and UMass ended Maine’s four-game winning steak with a 4-0 win in a Hockey East game on Friday in Amherst, Mass.
Francesco Dell’Elce scored midway through the first period to give UMass (6-4, 1-2 Hockey East) the lead. Jencko scored a power-play goal in the second period and Lucas Olvestad added a goal later in the period to make it 3-0. Jencko added an empty-netter in the third.
Albin Boija made 31 saves for Maine (6-3-1, 3-1). Jackson Irving stopped 38 shots for UMass.
