This is an appeal to veterans who may be in need of a lawyer but cannot find one.

Many veterans find that they have a legal problem but cannot afford a lawyer. In fact, more than 75% of the  lower income people in Maine, who need to go to court, have this problem. Those problems may include the threat of eviction from a home; having trouble paying for something they bought on credit; or a host of other problems.

Veterans find that they can’t get a legal aid lawyer to go with them. Their friends may tell them that they could not get a legal aid attorney either because legal aid was always swamped. But they may not know the whole story. In fact,  Pine Tree Legal Assistance is indeed swamped, but it has a special federal grant to take on the cases of veterans.

I encourage veterans who may have a problem not to give up. Pine Tree Legal Assistance may be able to help with their situation. And, it has offices all around the state, including in Portland, Lewiston and Augusta. One of these is probably located near them.
