Efficiency Maine, an independent and quasi-state agency that plans and implements energy efficiency programs, provides rebates and loans to make some home updates more affordable across all income levels.
Among 19 rebates available are those for heat pumps, which feature a $2,000 federal tax credit and $9,000 in Efficiency Maine incentives for low-income households. Efficiency Maine incentives for moderate-income households are $6,000 and for any income, $3,000. Deals for heat pump water heaters include $2,000 in federal tax credits and an Efficiency Maine incentive of $1,050 for all income households.
Federal tax credits for all 19 programs will end Dec. 31, 2025.
