BENTON – Celebrating a Life of Service, Curiosity, and Challenging the Norm: We announce the passing of Dwight F. Lanning, who left us peacefully, surrounded by his wife and children. Born in York, Pa., Dwight built a distinguished 22-year career in the U.S. Navy and Navy Reserve, retiring as a Master Chief. A lifelong tinkerer and advocate for community and progress in his adopted home state of Maine, he made a second career out of business development and IT work. He supported small businesses, local causes, and those in need.He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Patricia; children Sarah and Ross; grandchildren Jourdain and Mitchel; siblings Lawrence Lanning, Ray Lanning, and Jayne Hampton.A celebration of life will be held Dec. 15, 1–3 p.m., at the VFW, 51 Water St, Waterville. For the full tribute and memories, visit https://bit.ly/dflanning.In lieu of flowers, please donate to a local non-profit—that’s what Dwight would do.
