Adrianna Smith had 26 points and 10 rebounds as the University of Maine women’s basketball team cruised to its first win of the season, beating Stonehill 79-53 on Monday night in Orono.
Smith scored 10 points in the second quarter when Maine (1-3) outscored the Skyhawks (2-2) 22-12.
Gardiner graduate Lizzy Gruber had 13 points, including eight in the third quarter, for the Black Bears. Sarah Talon of Windham added nine rebounds and Asta Blauenfeldt finished with 14 points. Cheverus graduate Maddie Fitzpatrick had five points and four rebounds.
Brooke Paquette scored 11 points and Bella Mallory had 10 for Stonehill.
