As a small business owner, I’ve watched Gov. Janet Mills make life harder for businesses and families for too long. During the campaign, Mills promised not to raise taxes, but once elected governor that is exactly what she did. Under Janet Mills, housing is more expensive, energy bills are higher than they are in New York City, insurance rates have skyrocketed and grocery prices are still on the rise despite decreasing across the rest of the nation.

To make matters worse, Janet Mills is using our tax dollars to fund her radical agenda, including free MaineCare for undocumented immigrants. Then, she took it a step further by supporting the Democrats’ government shutdown to give those same immigrants free health care nationwide. As a senator, Mills would have voted with Chuck Schumer to keep the government closed, despite both Maine’s senators voting to keep it open more than 10 times. 

Mainers deserve a senator who puts us first, not someone like Mills, who puts party politics above what’s best for Maine people.

Susan Collins continually proves to be the fighter Maine needs. She spearheaded the negotiations that opened the government back up and ensured Mainers receive their SNAP benefits. Instead of leaving Mainers to struggle with higher bills and rising prices, Susan Collins puts us first and delivers when it matters the most.

Next November, the choice is easy. I will be voting for Susan Collins.
