Lorraine T. Soucy

MADISON – Lorraine T. Soucy, 92, of Madison, Maine, passed away peacefully on Nov. 16, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. Lorraine lived her life with quiet strength, deep faith, and an unwavering devotion to the people she loved. Born on August 10, 1933, in Skowhegan, she was the daughter of Cecile (Martin) and William Ouellette.

Lorraine was educated at the Skowhegan Convent, Skowhegan High School, and later attended cosmetology school—a path that would shape much of her life. After marrying the love of her life, Raymond Soucy, the couple settled in Madison, where she operated her own in-home hair salon for nearly 40 years while raising their four children. Known affectionately by her kids as “the gossip shop,” her salon was a lively hub of town conversation. Her children liked to joke that they couldn’t get away with anything without it making its way back to her chair.

A devout Catholic, Lorraine was a longtime member of the Daughters of Isabella and volunteered many hours at the Saint Sebastian Thrift Shop, offering her time and compassion to others. She was a devoted member of the community, and served as a poll worker during local elections.

Lorraine had a remarkable talent for creating a warm and welcoming home. She loved cooking and canning the produce that Ray harvested from his gardens. Her hands were rarely still—she enjoyed needlepoint, tole painting, and caring for the steady stream of stray cats that found refuge in her yard. Family was at the center of her life, and she treasured summers at their camp on Emden Lake, annual family vacations along the Maine coast, and peaceful days fishing with Ray at their camp on Chase Pond.

She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Ray; her son, Paul; her sisters Constance LaChance, Priscilla Willette, and Corinne Laney, and her brother, Gerald.

Lorraine is survived by her daughter Lynn Mantor and husband Tony, her son Tim Soucy and wife Patsey, and her son Leo Soucy and wife Laurie. She leaves behind her beloved grandchildren, Nathan Mantor and wife Sarah, Brandon Mantor and wife Jillian, Matthew Soucy and wife Sierra, Leanne Pitts and husband Kevin, Sean Soucy, Alisha Lake and husband Nate, and Katlyn Butler and husband Jason. She was blessed with great-grandchildren, Abigail, Harley, Memphis, Reese, Oliver, Evelyn, Nathan, Walker, Brayden, and Merci; as well as many cherished nieces and nephews. She will also be missed by her cat Dede, her loyal companion since Ray’s passing.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Lorraine’s longtime caregiver and friend, Jill Faloon, and to Maine General Hospice for their exceptional care and support.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, Nov. 29, 2025, 11 a.m., at St. Sebastian Church, 161 Main Street, Madison followed by a luncheon.

Arrangements are entrusted to Giberson Funeral Home.
