Line G. Ellis

AUGUSTA – Line G. Ellis, 61, passed away on Monday, Nov. 10, 2025, at her home following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Lac Megantic, Quebec, Canada on Nov. 26, 1963, a daughter of Julien and Rollande (Turgeon) Carrier.

Line attended Cony High School in Augusta, graduating in 1982. She continued her education at CMMC School of Nursing, where she graduated in 1984 as one of the top 10 students in her class. She began her nursing career as a charge nurse at Lakewood Manor before transferring over to Augusta General Hospital, where she worked for 13 years in pediatrics. She then transitioned to community health nursing for nine years with Belgrade Health Center. In her later years, she took several retail positions, owned her own furniture store, and made lifelong friends.

She faced life’s challenges with a quiet courage that inspired everyone who knew her. No matter what she was carrying, she always found room in her heart to care for others. Her compassion was instinctive, her generosity constant, and her love poured out freely to family, friends, and even strangers. She gave more than she ever asked for, and her strength was matched only by her kindness. Even when life was difficult, she found joy in the simple things: a new plant taking root, a cat curled up nearby, a painting coming to life under her brush, or anything with koalas. Her deep love for animals, her creativity, and her ability to laugh—even at herself—made her a comforting presence to everyone around her. She gave freely and quietly, always thinking of others first. Her strength showed in the way she kept loving, kept giving, and kept seeing beauty in the world. And those fortunate enough to have known her will carry that strength and kindness with them always.

Mom, we love you to the moon and back. We’ll love you forever, we’ll like you for always, as long as we are living, our mum plum you will be.

Line is survived by her parents, Julien and Rollande Carrier of Augusta; children, Kimberly Pepin and her husband David of Waldoboro, Kyle Gay of Manchester, Kevin Gay and his girlfriend Alice of West Gardiner; a sister, Nancy Carrier and her partner David of Albion, a brother, Denis Carrier of Chelsea; four grandchildren, Evelyn, Caroline, Lenora, and Breanna. She is additionally survived by her former husbands, Leroy Ellis of Augusta, who remained a supportive presence in her life, and Robert Gay of Manchester, with whom she spent many years of her life. There are countless nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends to be mentioned; she would want each of them to know she loved and appreciated them all.

Relatives and friends may visit on Saturday, Nov. 29 from 10 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta, where a memorial service will follow at 11:30 a.m. Friends and family are welcome to join together for a combined celebration of life at the Elks club in Augusta, 397 Civic Center Dr., from 12-3 p.m., where both Line and her sister-in-law, Sandy, will be celebrated. Burial will be at a later date.
