This management position took him from hotel construction in Utah, Colorado, New Mexico, South Carolina, and Georgia.

In May of 1985, Michael returned to Winslow to marry the love of his life, Gayla Kittredge. Michael and Gayla had been high school sweethearts, and their marriage led to two children, with their son Matthew and daughter Mariah. In 1992, Michael and Gayla returned to Maine where he continued work in the commercial construction industry until his retirement.
