One point from the NCAA Division III volleyball quarterfinals, Colby was unable to close out a victory and instead was eliminated by Trinity (Texas) in a five-set match Wednesday in Bloomington, Illinois.
The Mules (26-5) fell behind two sets to one, then extended the match by winning the fourth set, 25-16. They rallied again in the fifth, erasing a three-point deficit, and had two match points with a 14-12 lead. But Trinity (27-5) took six of the last eight points, completing a 25-21, 18-25, 25-23, 16-25, 18-16 victory.
Kendall Glover led Colby with 18 kills and six blocks. Brady Moseley had 12 kills and 25 digs, Cyanne Jones also recorded 12 kills, and Gabby Grujic and Sydney DeProfio each had 28 assists.
