Sally Jane Cowette
NORTH ANSON – Sally Jane Cowette, of North Anson, passed away on Nov. 11, 2025, at the age of 82.
Sally was born on Jan. 25, 1943, in Hartland, to Ralph and Mona Ruby Leavitt. She completed her eighth year of school before resigning to assist her mother and five siblings with childcare and homemaking.
Sally worked for Dexter Shoe for approximately 15 years where she ran a leather splitter. She married Rodney Cowette on July 1, 1960, and they welcomed daughters Roxanne Cowette and Kelly Merrill.
She was predeceased by her parents, Ralph and Mona Leavitt; her husband, Rodney Cowette; siblings, Roger Leavitt, Jackie Bailey, and Maxine Alton; and her special partner later in life Clyde Thomas.
Sally is survived by her siblings Clint and Deborah Levitt; her daughters Roxanne Cowette and Kelly Merrill; her grandchildren Ryan Cowette, Christopher Strout, Lacey Roderick, and Mikel Merrill; along with 19 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Sally was a hard worker who kept a clean house like no other, she enjoyed spending time with her friends and family, hunting, fishing, and traveling with her partner Clyde. Later in life Sally spent time painting ceramics, frequenting events of her great grandchildren, craft fairs, entertaining visitors, and watching her favorite television show Heartland.
Sally will be endlessly missed; she was a spitfire who said what she thought no matter who was around and defended her family fiercely. She always had time to share a story and made time for everyone. She was an honorary “Nana” to everyone she met. Christmas was her favorite time to gather and celebrate with family and holiday events. Rest in peace our special girl, we will love you forever!
