Mt. Blue jumped out to an early lead en route to a 55-39 win over Messalonskee in a boys basketball season opener Friday in Oakland.

Mt. Blue outscored Messalonskee 14-2 in the first quarter. Oliver Cormier led the Cougars with 18 points, Evan Drake contributed 12 points and Cooper Abell finished with eight.

Anderson Arbour hit four 3-pointers and scored 18 points for Messalonskee. Jeziah Stone added 12 points.

HALL-DALE 66, OAK HILL 55: Tayshaun Cleveland finished with 18 points for the Bulldogs in a win over the Raiders at Wales.

Greyson Cary chipped in with 17 points, Davis Madore scored 12 and Karter Eldridge had 11.

Keeghan Morrissette led Oak Hill with 15 points. Braden Dubec dropped in 13.

VALLEY 85, RANGELEY 28: Harry Louis scored 14 points and dished out seven assists to lead the Cavaliers to a season-opening win over the Lakers (1-1) in Bingham.

Levi Short added 16 points and Landon Hartwell had 14 for Valley. Cameron Lay contributed eight points and eight rebounds.

Kaysyn Woike led Rangeley with 15 points.

MEDOMAK VALLEY 68, ERSKINE ACADEMY 47: Mason Nguyen poured in 24 points as the Panthers opened their season with a victory in South China.

Nguyen and Owen Dostie (12 points) each made three 3-pointers. They were joined in double figures by Kollin Donlin, who finished with 10 points.

Cam Coutts and Gavin Fanjoy each scored 14 points for Erskine.

FOREST HILLS 65, VINALHAVEN 54: The Tigers outlasted the Vikings in overtime to notch a season-opening win at Kennebec Valley Community College.

Jaxson Desjardins scored 37 points for Forest Hills. Maddox Cuddy added 19.

Hunter Hamilton tallied 22 points to lead Vinalhaven.

MARANACOOK 63, WINTHROP 43: Jack Fontaine scored 27 points to lead the Black Bears to a win over the Ramblers in Readfield.

Freshman Gage Mattson added 20 points for Maranacook (1-0).

Graham Huri led Winthrop (0-1) with12 points, while Jake Galusha added 11 points and Korbin Littler scored 10.

GARDINER 64, BELFAST 48: The Tigers (1-0) had four players reach double figures in a win over the Lions (0-1) in Gardiner.

Brady Atwater and Brady Peacock each had 14 points. Trace Moody finished with 13 points, and Colin McCormick scored 10.

Brayden Elliott had a team high six steals, while Peacock finished with four.

Trevin Ripley notched a game-high 17 points for Belfast, and Landon Economy dropped in 16.

MADISON 54, MONMOUTH ACADEMY 43: Brayden Furbush scored 19 points and Jacob Linkletter had 18 points and eight rebounds to pace the Bulldogs to a season-opening victory over the Mustangs in Madison.

Furbush made four 3-pointers and Linkletter hit two. Ayden Pease pulled down six rebounds, including four on the offensive end, to go along with the five points he scored for Madison.

Monmouth, which scored 33 of its 43 points in the second half, was led by Levi Laverdiere’s 13 points and Gavin Parson’s 12.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

VALLEY 82, RANGELEY 16: Kirsten Bigelow scored 11 of her 20 points in the first quarter as the Cavaliers jumped out to a 32-1 lead against the Lakers in Bingham.

Liana Hartwell added 15 points, Delia Hill had 13 and Miranda Beane finished with 12.

Kennedy Savage scored eight points for Rangeley.

MESSALONSKEE 69, MT. BLUE 24: Ella Hanson scored 13 points and Leah Adams was two steals shy of a triple-double for the Eagles in their season opener in Oakland.

Adams and Rubee Stubbert each had 12 points. Adams also recorded 11 rebounds and eight of Messalonskee’s 41 steals.

Gracelyn Noles led Mt. Blue with nine points.

FOREST HILLS 49, VINALHAVEN 41: The Tigers put four players in double figures to defeat the Vikings in a season opener at Kennebec Valley Community College in Fairfield.

Kelsea Rancourt had 14 points to lead Forest Hills. Janessa Moffitt and Addison Chaisson each added 11 points, while Morgan Daigle scored 10.

Vinalhaven got 14 points from Lydia Wentworth and 10 from Audriana Hunsinger.

GARDINER 61, BELFAST 26: Zoey Sullivan-Brennan scored 17 points to lead the Tigers to a win over the Lions in Gardiner.

Molly Takatsu scored 12 points and had seven assists, while Zoey Epperson added 10 points and seven rebounds for Gardiner (1-0).

Julianna Sprague led Belfast (0-1) with nine points, and Kamynn Wadsworth added seven points.

MONMOUTH ACADEMY 30, MADISON 19: Kaitlyn Frost and Sophia Ennis each scored seven points to lead the Mustangs past the Bulldogs in Monmouth.

Nora Labonte and Eliza Armandi each added four points for Monmouth (1-0).

Jaelyn Rich led Madison (0-1) with 10 points.
