We’re proud to make high school sports coverage free for everyone—because these moments matter. At Maine State Credit Union, we’re here for the people and places that make Maine strong. Let’s Go! Learn more at mainestatecu.org.
Cony/Gardiner/Hall-Dale: Former Cony assistant Gabby Low leads the new Class A co-op, known as the Capital Area Sturgeons. The Cony boys were 10th at the Class A state meet last season. The Gardiner/Hall-Dale boys, formerly of Class B, placed seventh at KVACs. Matteo Hardy, Raiden Ramkissoon, Eli Burnham and Jackson Gray all qualified for the state championships last year, the latter two doing so as freshmen.
Erskine Academy: There aren’t any seniors on the five-person roster, but the Eagles still have some experienced swimmers, including junior Sawyer Livingstone and sophomore Jackson Hussey, who both competed in the freestyle events at the KVAC championships.
Messalonskee/Skowhegan/Nokomis/Lawrence: Coach Beth Prelgovisk said numbers in the feeder program are down, but there are two talented freshman on the seven-person roster. Caden LaPlante (butterfly and breaststroke) and Ian Lane (freestyle) will join Joseph Branaugh, who placed in two events at the Class A state meet as a freshman last season, to form a dynamic young core that is strong in any event or distance.
Waterville/Winslow: The co-op placed third at KVACs and 10th at Class B states last winter. Twelve of the 15 swimmers are upperclassmen, and five of the seven members of the relay teams that competed at states return. Aaron Theriault, Caleb Bennett, Benjamin Scott, Dennis Pham and Quincy Morin should provide veteran leadership and individual points.
