Richard “Dick” Plourde

LARGO, Fla. / SIDNEY – Richard “Dick” Plourde, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully and surrounded by love on Dec. 4, 2025 at Suncoast Hospice in Pinellas Park, Fla. after a courage battle with cancer and many other illnesses.

Dick was born in Eagle Lake on March 7, 1939 to William “Willie” Plourde and Marie Rose Parent Plourde.

Dick attended schools in Eagle Lake until the family move to Augusta. He graduated from Cony High School in the class of 1958, later serving the United States Army on June 4, 1958, later joined the Reserves until his honorable discharge on Feb. 3, 1964.

Dick’s work life reflected his compassionate and hardworking nature. Early in his career he served as a police officer in West Hartford, Conn. After returning to Augusta, he found his calling as a master plumber where he built a successful business through honesty, skill, and genuine care for his customers.

Dick’s heart was at its fullest with family. He was married twice: first to Virginia Ouellette, and together they raised three boys, Gregory, David, and Bill.

His second marriage was to Jo-Ann Anastasio. Their 19 wonderful years were filled with laughter, love, and cherished memories fishing, camping, bowling, dancing, going out to eat with friends and wintered in Largo, Fla.

Dick is deeply mourned but lovingly remembered by his sons David of Farmington, N.H. and his children, Celia and Emerson; William of Falmouth and wife Linda. Dick’s legacy lives on in his grandson, Gregory Plourde, his wife Chelsey, and their daughter, Mia. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends whose lives he touched so profoundly.

Dick was predeceased by his mother and father; Dick’s 11 siblings; and his beloved son, Gregory. Those who knew Dick find comfort in the thought that Gregory was there to welcome his father to Heaven.

Dick was a lifetime member of the Augusta Elks and the Augusta VFW. He also was a member of the Eagles and the Calumet Club.

Dick will be missed by all that knew him. He was a wonderful, caring, kind, and honest man.

A celebration of Dick’s life will be held at a later day in the spring. All arrangements will be made by Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Cancer Society, Wounded Worriers, which are two of his favorite organizations.
