Maine State Police are investigating the death of a state prison inmate, but it is not considered suspicious.

Maine Department of Corrections spokesman Scott Fish said Jerry Robin Lydick, 56, died at about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Maine State Prison in Warren.

A cause was not given, but Mark Belserene with the state medical examiner’s office said a preliminary autopsy suggested that Lydick died of natural causes.

“We’re seeing no indication of foul play,” he said.

Lydick, a former Bucksport resident, has been imprisoned since June 2012 when he was sentenced to 20 years in prison for gross sexual assault and unlawful sexual contact.

He was scheduled to be released in 2032.
