Officials have now identified all six people killed after a private jet crashed and caught fire at the Bangor International Airport last month.
The Maine Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has positively identified Nick Mastrascusa, 43, of Hawaii, and Shawna Collins, 53, of Texas, a spokesperson for the Bangor Police Department said Thursday afternoon. Both had been previously identified by Texas media.
Mastrascusa was an award-winning chef and sommelier who worked for Beyond, a luxury travel company founded by Tara Arnold, another passenger on the plane, according to the company’s website. Collins was an event planner for Beyond who also worked at Lakewood Church in Houston, run by Joel Osteen Ministries, according to the Associated Press.
Police earlier in the week identified two of the other passengers and both pilots.
Those identified earlier are Arnold, 46, Jacob Hosmer, 47, and Jorden Reidel, 33, all of Texas; as well as 34-year-old Shelby Kuyawa of Hawaii. Hosmer and Reidel were both certified pilots, according to Federal Aviation Administration records.
It’s not clear what caused the crash, which was Maine’s deadliest in decades. The plane attempted to take off during a major storm that dropped more than a foot of snow over the airport. It was bound for France on the evening of Jan. 25 when it crashed, inverted and caught fire shortly after attempting to take off.
The National Transportation Safety Board is currently leading an investigation into the incident and is expected to release a preliminary report later this month. A full report including probable cause could take up to two years, the NTSB has said.
