One person was killed after a three-vehicle crash on Blue Hill Road in Surry on Friday afternoon. The Hancock County town is southwest of Ellsworth.
Maine State Police identified the victim as 47 year-old Mark Nevells, of Brooksville.
At about 2:44 p.m. on Friday afternoon, Maine State Police troopers responded to the crash. The initial investigation found that Nevells was northbound when he crossed the centerline and struck two vehicles driving south.
Nevells was pronounced dead at the scene. The other two drivers were taken to a local hospital with minor injuries, and were later released.
Blue Hill Road was closed for several hours as the Maine State Police investigated the crash.
The roadway was reopened around 7 p.m.
The crash remains under investigation by Maine State Police.
