Thank you for the Jan. 30 op-ed “Please stop calling it polarization.” I am tired of being called a radical Marxist communist just because I want our government to live by the words and ideals enshrined in Declaration of Independence and the Constitution.
I am tired of being told I need to learn to listen to the likes of Stephen Miller, JD Vance, Tom Homan, etc., and find common ground; that we all really want the same things for our country. No, we don’t. The random roundups of Black and brown citizens in cities across the U.S. tell us all we need to know.
Searching for bipartisanship is a fool’s game. Do police meet with bank robbers, negotiate to get half the money back, and call it a win? People of conscience, those of us in the center, must rise up and make our voices heard and vote, vote, vote. President Trump recently urged Republicans to “nationalize” the upcoming election. We have to overwhelm them with numbers everywhere.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
You can read more here about our commenting policy and terms of use. More information is also found on our FAQs.
