David L. Trubee

AUGUSTA – David L. Trubee, 82, passed away peacefully on Feb. 15, 2026, at the Maine Veterans’ Home in Augusta.

David was born on Nov. 3, 1943, in Maine, the son of Jack and Marie (Clarkson) Trubee. Following high school, he proudly served his country in the United States Navy for four years.

David was a hardworking man who enjoyed the simple things in life. He loved spending time outdoors gardening, working his blueberry crop, and running his tractor in the fields. He also enjoyed making his own maple syrup and had a lifelong passion for hunting and fishing. He was known for being stubborn and set in his ways, but those who knew him best also knew his dry and excellent sense of humor. David loved to laugh, joke, and “swap lies” with friends and family, and he cherished time spent with those closest to him.

Above all, David loved his wife, Elaine, dearly. The two shared 49 years of marriage before her passing in 2022.

He is survived by his niece, Kate Trubee Giroux of New York; nephews, Eric Trubee and his wife Becky of Wisconsin, Michigan, and Elliot Trubee of Wisconsin, Michigan; Donald Parrish of New Hampshire; his sister-in-law, Sally Trubee of Wisconsin, Michigan; Henry Ferland Jr. and his wife Cindy of Windham, Maine; John Ferland and his wife Paulette of Hudson, Maine; Nancy Burns and her husband Darryl of Winterport, Maine; David Ferland and his wife Shirley of Augusta, Maine; Keith Ferland and his wife Brenda of Apache Junction, Arizona; as well as special family friends, Amanda and David Willey and her parents, Pete and Laurel Shippee and his godson Joshua Willey; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Elaine (Nilsson) Trubee; his parents, Jack and Marie Trubee; his in-laws, Arvid and Esther Nilsson; his sister, Joan Ferland Trubee; and his brothers, John Trubee and William Trubee; and niece Rachel Ferland Parrish.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuedsay, Feb. 24, 2026, at Knowlton and Hewins Funeral Home, 1 Church Street, Augusta. A private family interment will be held in the spring.
