Liam McFadden recorded a hat trick and two assists as top-seeded Messalonskee advanced to the Class B North semifinals with a 9-1 win Tuesday night over eighth-seeded Old Town/Orono at Jack Kelley Rink in Waterville.

Alex Beckwith added two goals and two assists. Connor Mushero, Seth Hansen, Tatum Doucette and Kolby Pelletier each chipped in with a goal for Messalonskee (16-3), the No. 2 team in this week’s Varsity Maine poll.

Justin Corson scored for Old Town/Orono (1-18).

Nathan Kirk and Jackson Boucher combined to make nine saves for Messalonskee. Oscar Brown stopped 38 shots in the loss.

KENNEBUNK/WELLS 2, CAPE ELIZABETH 1: Taggart Connor put home the rebound of a Dylan Page shot in overtime to give the third-seeded Rams (14-4-1) a Class B South quarterfinal victory over the sixth-seeded Capers (5-14) at Alfond Forum in Biddeford.

Jack Baxter tied the game for Kennebunk/Wells when he scored on a penalty shot in the third period.

Cape’s Bennett Hooper opened the scoring in the second period.

GORHAM/MASSABESIC 4, GARDINER CO-OP 0: Harley McLean and Isaiah Waterman each notched a goal and an assist and Grant Peters stopped 17 shots as the top-seeded Rams (15-4) won a Class B South quarterfinal over No. 8 Gardiner/Waterville/Winslow/Lawrence/Richmond/Wiscasset (3-16) at USM Ice Arena in Gorham.

Levi Wagner and Tyler Croteau also scored.

Mike Loubier made 45 saves for the Tigers.
