Jacob Hudson and Liam Gorman scored just over a minute apart early in the second period, and the Maine Mariners capped an eight-game road trip with their seventh consecutive win, beating the Worcester Railers 2-1 in an ECHL game Saturday night in Worcester, Massachusetts.
Brad Arvanitis finished with 25 saves for the Mariners, who matched the longest winning streak in franchise history. Maine solidified its hold on third place in the North Division and opened a nine-point gap over Worcester, the first team outside the playoffs.
The Mariners trailed 1-0 after a goal by Anthony Repaci midway through the first period, but Hudson tied it with his 15th goal of the season, and Gorham connected just 1:10 later to make it 2-1.
Maine’s penalty-killing unit was 4 for 4, including three successful kills in the third period.
The Mariners can break their team record winning streak on Sunday when they return home to face Trois-Rivières.
