Central Maine Power restored electricity to more than 1,200 customers who lost power Tuesday night after a power line fell in Liberty.
The outage impacted more than 1,000 CMP customers in Waldo County and more than 200 in Knox County.
The Liberty Fire Department announced around 7 p.m. that there was a power line down on Route 220 in the town. The department said the top of a utility pole was burning and that CMP crews were en route.
As of 8 p.m., over 750 of the roughly 880 CMP customers in Liberty were without power, according to the utility’s website. Roughly 500 other customers in surrounding towns also were without power, including more than 260 in Montville and more than 140 in Union.
Dozens of customers in the neighboring towns of Searsmont and Appleton were also without electricity as of that time, according to the utility’s website.
Power was restored some time before 9:30 p.m., according to CMP’s website.
Liberty fire Chief Bill Gillespie could not be reached Tuesday night for more information.
