The University of New England received an at-large bid in the NCAA Division III men’s hockey tournament and will face St. Norbert in the first round at 8 p.m. Saturday in De Pere, Wisconsin.
The Nor’easters are 21-6 and are ranked seventh in the USCHO.com Division III poll. They had an 11-game winning streak snapped Saturday in a 2-1 loss to No. 3 Endicott in the Conference of New England final.
Second-ranked St. Norbert (21-6-2) extended its winning streak to eight games when it captured its 18th Northern Collegiate Hockey Association title Saturday with a 3-1 victory over Aurora.
UNE is playing in the NCAA tournament for the sixth time, all since 2018, while St. Norbert earned its 23rd bid. The Green Knights have won five national titles. UNE has reached the semifinals twice (2022 and 2023).
The St. Norbert-UNE winner will face three-time defending national champion Hobart in the quarterfinals on March 21.
