Well, here is our “holy war,” at last, and I am horrified.
I’m horrified that Christian leaders have been invited by the White House Faith Office to pray with President Trump in the Oval Office, and that there is a White House Faith Office, a clear violation of the “sacred” principle of the separation of church and state.
I’m horrified that Christian leaders have been duped into believing that Trump knows or cares about the teachings of Christ and is not just acting pious to assure their support of his blood-soaked agendas; and that so-called Christians appear to have forgotten the Sixth Commandment: “Thou shalt not kill.”
This outrage is done in our name and with our tax dollars. The U.S. military, through sheer ineptitude, bombed an Iranian girls’ school on the war’s first day. UNESCO has said that educating girls is “one of the most effective ways to break cycles of poverty, challenge structural inequalities and drive economic growth.”
Sen. Susan Collins was afraid to “send the wrong message” to Iran after this illegal war started, by exerting Congress’ constitutional duty to be the sole branch of our government with the power to declare war.
“Holy war” is the worst kind of oxymoron.
