I flew into Portland last week and carried my bags to the parking garage, where I couldn’t get the elevator to work. I climbed to the second floor and found that, at age 78 — and with two bags — I didn’t want to climb any more. I was out of breath and looking for help.
I found a sign for customer service and a phone number. I called, and the man I spoke to was eager to help but wasn’t sure how soon it would come so he gave me another number to call. About 10 minutes later, a man showed up in a very large truck.
He realized it was too high for me to climb into, so he called for someone else and waited with me until they came. A man in a smaller truck arrived. He gave me a ride to the fourth floor and transferred my bags to my car. All three people were kind and patient and turned a bad experience into a good example of why I was glad to be back in Maine.
