The New Hampshire Fisher Cats scored five times in the second inning and cruised to an 11-3 win over the Portland Sea Dogs in an Eastern League game Wednesday at Hadlock Field in Portland.
It was the second straight day Portland gave up a big second inning. In their home opener on Tuesday, the Sea Dogs allowed 10 runs in the second on eight walks, two hit batters and just one hit.
Geovanny Planchart had two hits and three RBI for the Fisher Cats, who finished with 14 hits. Eddie Micheletti Jr. added three hits and Jace Bohrofen hit a solo home run in the fifth inning.
Sea Dogs starting pitcher Gage Ziehl allowed seven runs (five earned) on nine hits in 2 1/2 innings. Michael Sansone allowed four runs (three earned) in 5 1/3 relief innings before designated hitter Drew Ehrhard pitched a scoreless 1 1/3.
Franklin Arias, the Boston Red Sox No. 2 rated prospect, had two hits, including a double and drove in three runs.
