Nancy Marion Coniff

GARDINER – Nancy Marion Coniff, a dedicated and loving matriarch, departed this life on April 16, 2026, at the age of 83. Born in Biddeford, Maine on May 22, 1942, to Lawrence Davis and Maitland Horne, Nancy spent her early years in her hometown before dedicating her life to the education and guidance of countless young minds in Gardiner, Maine.

Nancy was a 1960 graduate of Biddeford High School and furthered her education at Nasson College, earning a BA in Education in 1964. She served as a business teacher at Gardiner Area High School from 1973 to 2000, where her influence extended beyond the classroom. In addition to her teaching duties, Nancy managed the business club, the future medical club, and the yearbook. She also sold tickets for the football games at both Quimby and Hoch fields, an activity she fondly enjoyed as it allowed her to see many friends.

Outside of her professional life, Nancy was an active member of the Eastern Star – The Marion Chapter in Gardiner, where she held the position of Worthy Grand Matron and was the grand representative from Maine to Vermont. She found solace in her hobbies, which included photography, playing cards with friends, attending church, knitting, bird watching, and reading by the lake. What mattered most to Nancy was her family, friends and especially her beloved grandchildren.

Nancy is survived by her son, Gregory D. Coniff and wife Mary Beth of Oakland; two granddaughters Rebecca K. Coniff of Boston and Lauren R. Coniff of South Portland.

She was predeceased by her spouse, Raymond K. Coniff; her parents, Lawrence Davis and Maitland Horne; and a brother Lawrence “Larry” Davis.
