Gloria Desjardin

HALLOWELL – Gloria Desjardin, 89, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 19, 2026. She was born in Augusta, Maine, on April 18, 1937, the daughter of the late Albert T. and Florence (Bilodeau) Pare.

Mrs. Desjardin was a graduate of Cony High School and a communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church.

Gloria began her working career as a legal secretary before dedicating herself to raising her family. She later returned to the workforce in roles that allowed her to balance home life with her love of staying busy. In her later years while living in Florida, she worked in the deli at Publix Supermarket.

Gloria was known for her sharp wit, her love of a good joke, and her lively sense of humor. She enjoyed all genres of music and was always up for an adventure, no matter how big or small. In quieter moments, she found joy in playing cards and doing puzzles.

Above all, Gloria adored her family—especially her “four A’s” and her beloved husband, Garvin—who were the center of her world and the source of her greatest joy.

She had many hobbies and talents, and was especially known for her theme quilting, canning, wine making, and her love of sewing, even at the family’s camp in Cherryfield, where she worked with only generator power. She also took a certain pride in keeping a well-run home, famously never minding a load of laundry. Gloria had a playful and spirited side, often expressed with her signature sense of humor.

We all witnessed Gloria’s passing, where she wore a slight smile upon her face and gently raised her arms. It brought great comfort to her family, who believe she was being welcomed and greeted by her beloved husband, Garvin.

Mrs. Desjardin was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Joseph Garvin Desjardin, and her sister, Jeannine F. Beland.

She is survived by her daughter Audrey Logan and her husband Bud “Charles” of Sidney, daughter April Canwell and her husband Brian of Mt. Vernon, son Allan Desjardin and his wife Tammy of Gorham, and daughter Amy Thibodeau and her husband Larry of Hilton Head, SC. She also leaves behind eight grandchildren, Zachary Logan, Christopher Logan, Lyndsay Canwell, James Canwell, Brandon Desjardin, Brittany Desjardin, Samuel Thibodeau, and Lucas Thibodeau; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Woodlands Assisted Living in Hallowell for the compassionate care and kindness shown to Gloria.

At her request, there will be no public visiting hours. A Mass of Christian Burial for Gloria and Garvin will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 13 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church on Western Avenue in Augusta. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. A celebration of life will follow at Le Club Calumet, West River Rd., Augusta.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta, Maine.
