The same way the Portland Sea Dogs’ throwback jerseys invoke a previous era, Sen. Susan Collins’ support for the Iran war feels like a throwback to her support for George W. Bush’s disastrous Iraq war.

Collins refuses to vote against President Trump’s war with Iran. The shocking truth is that she champions it, even after our nation bombed a girls’ school in Iran, resulting in the death of more than 100 children. The estimated cost of Trump’s immoral war is nearly $1 billion a day.

Respectfully, the next time a politician claims there isn’t money to fund Medicare For All, SNAP benefits or universal childcare, I’ll envision Collins dusting off Bush’s infamous “Mission Accomplished” banner as she supports spending $1 billion a day on Trump’s war.

In my view, Maine can’t afford to have a war hawk as a senator. I believe it is time Mainers move on from Collins and vote her out.
