Janice L. Kelly

HOULTON – Janice L. Kelly, formerly of Augusta, died Wednesday, April 22, 2026.

She was born in Phillips on March 23, 1932, the daughter of Mary L Wing (Zimba) and Maxwell Mecham.

Janice was predeceased by her parents; stepfather, Joseph Zimba; husband, Donald F. Kelly; son, James R. Violette, Jr., daughter-in-law, Janice Violette; grandson, Joseph W. Violette, II and granddaughter, Jerica L. Hersom.

She is survived by her daughter, Janeen L. Violette, Augusta, and grandson Jared J. Hersom and great-granddaughter, Gemma Hersom of Jacksonville, Fla.; son, Joseph W. Violette, his partner Mary Dangler of Clinton, and granddaughter Elizabeth Violette of Winslow, and Mary’s son, Jay Dangler, his wife Hannah, and their children Logan, Jett and Jasper, of Benton; granddaughter, Margot Cowing and her husband Roy and great-grandchildren Emily Cowing and Quinn Cowing of Edina, Minn., and Hunter Cowing of France; grandson James R. Violette, III of Bangor, and great-grandchildren, Andrew and his wife, Abbie of Newport, and Taylor Peters of Prairie Grove, Ariz.; and, sisters-in-law Gail Saucier and Carolee Barron, of Madison.

Arrangements are being made by Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta. A service will be held at the convenience of the family at Kling Cemetery, West River Road, Augusta.
