Blake Kenyon doubled and singled three times as Skowhegan baseball squeaked past Brewer 7-6 on Wednesday in Brewer.
Kenyon also drove in two runs, as did teammate Trevor Austin. Trevor Austin and Trent Austin each doubled for the River Hawks (2-2).
Ayden Barnard belted three hits for the Witches (0-4) and recorded an RBI. Joshua McGovern notched three singles and had two RBI. Cody Hews doubled and brought home a run.
OXFORD HILLS 11, MT. BLUE 1: Colton Jendrick, Cameron Pulkkinen and Finley Cavers each drove in two runs as the Vikings (4-0) continued their torrid start to the season with a five-inning victory over the Cougars (2-2) in Paris.
Jendrick doubled and scored four runs, while Pulkkinen and Cavers finished with two hits apiece. Ryder Kennison also had a double for Oxford Hills.
Mt. Blue’s Oliver Cormier led off the game with a home run. That was the only hit and run allowed by Vikings pitchers Tucker Hilden (five strikeouts in 3 1/3 innings), Niko Powers and Logan Norris.
WATERVILLE 6, GARDINER 5: Milo Taylor drove in the tying run in the sixth and singled home the winning run on an infield dribbler with one out in the eighth inning to lift the Purple Panthers (2-1) over the Tigers (0-2) in Waterville.
Derek Couture doubled, drove in two runs and scored three runs for Waterville. Wyatt Jones also doubled.
Gardiner pitcher Grayson Greeleaf struck out 14 over seven innings. Liam Verhille had three hits and two RBI to lead the Tigers’ offense.
SOFTBALL
LEAVITT 11, ERSKINE ACADEMY 4: Hailey Cyr, Charlee Pelletier and Cayleigh Rose each had two hits to lead the Hornets (2-1) over the Eagles (2-1) in South China.
Cyr struck out six to earn the win.
Lilly Clark and Kammie Thompson each had three hits for Erskine. Clark and Faith MacMaster both had a double.
MONMOUTH ACADEMY 15, MARANACOOK 3: Evelyn Pettengill struck out nine batters and had two extra-base hits to lead the unbeaten Mustangs (3-0) past the Black Bears (0-3) in five innings in Monmouth.
Pettengill doubled and tripled. She also drove in two runs and scored twice. Lila Poussard and Kaitlyn Frost also had two hits for Monmouth.
Danika Dunn had two of Maranacook’s five hits, a double and a single.
OXFORD HILLS 14, MT. BLUE 4: The Vikings (4-0) overcame the Cougars’ (1-3) fast start to remain unbeaten with a five-inning victory in Paris.
Mt. Blue opened the game with a four-run top of the first, but Oxford Hills responded with seven runs in the bottom half of the opening frame. The Vikings then piled on two more runs in the second and three in the third.
Kyeria Morse, Jadyn Campbell, Karyssa Morse and Natasha Child each drove in two runs for Oxford Hills, which is ranked fifth in the Varsity Maine poll.
Kyeria Morse struck out seven batters in 4 1/3 innings of relief to earn the win.
Ava Davis drove in two runs and Molly Hambrick had a double for Mt. Blue.
OAK HILL 18, WINTHROP/KENTS HILL 1: Izzy Whitaker homered and pitched a one-hitter as the Raiders (2-2) downed the Ramblers (0-1) in three innings in Wales.
Whitaker struck out six batters and finished with three RBI and three runs scored. Sydney Wood, Saryn Blais and Emma Parkin belted two hits apiece, while Emily Castonguay drove in two runs.
Kylee Mansir had Winthrop/Kents Hill’s lone hit.
GIRLS LACROSSE
MARANACOOK/WINTHROP 19, GARDINER/HALL-DALE 0: Cooper Davis led the offense with five goals and three assists as the Black Bears (3-0) cruised past the Tigers (2-2) in Readfield.
Stella Stewart chipped in with three goals and four assists, as well as 12 draw controls and six ground balls. Alice Ferran also scored three times, Celia Bergdahl had two goals and two assists, and Hadley Farwell netted two goals.
