Justin Taylor tapped in a loose puck 2:36 into overtime, and the Adirondack Thunder avoided elimination from the ECHL playoffs by defeating the Maine Mariners 3-2 in Game 5 of a first-round series Saturday night in Glens Falls, New York.
Mariners goalie Brad Arvanitis stopped a shot by Tyson Fawcett, but the puck got behind him and Taylor scored his second goal of the game.
The victory cut Maine’s series lead to 3-2 and sets up Game 6 on Tuesday night at Portland’s Cross Insurance Arena.
Jacob Hudson scored both goals for the Mariners. He opened the scoring with a power-play goal midway through the first period, then tied it 13:30 into the second after Adirondack took a 2-1 lead.
