JACKMAN/STARKS – Sylvia, born on August 2, 1955, the third child of Vernard C. and Edith M. (Fowler) Hilton of Starks, died March 25, 2026, at age 70. She lived at the old family farm in Starks for her first six years, then at the Pineland Center in Pownal until she was 19, when she moved to and resided at Northland Manor in Jackman for the following 50+ years.
Some might say it was her privilege to live there among those many residents and staff, who she came to know over the decades. But the privilege was actually in those who had the opportunity to know her, to revel in being with her, experiencing her humor, her enthusiasm, her infectious laugh, to discern and interpret her metaphors, to love her and be loved by her over the years. In short, to be her family.
Sylvia was predeceased by her mother and father and by her brother Benjamin. She was also predeceased by her many co-residents from Pineland and from Northland, and by her special friend, Charlene.
She is survived by her brother Ernest, his wife, Gwen, their two daughters, Kelsey (Justin) and Emily (Aman), and Kelsey’s daughter, Isabelle; and by Ben’s widow, Marilyn, their two sons, Nick (Tammy) and Tim (Heather) as well as Nick’s son Dylan and Tim’s sons, Tommy and Liam. She is also survived by her ‘extended’ family from Northland, including Angel, Brandi, Danielle, Diane, Katheryne, Kelly, Leisa, Missy, Sydney, and many, many others.
The family would like to thank the many staff members of Northland Manor over the years who provided care to our beloved family member.
